Divorce overseas

Hello.I'm married to a us citizen and live with him in a house in las vegas,nv. I am german with a greencard.We are married since 2 years...he is not faitful to me and now i want o go back home to germany.If he would have to pay alimony would he have to pay it to me even if i live in germany again? And if yes---how much could it be?

Usually alimony is not given for a marriages under 3 years. If the Judge gives you money it will be a lump sum payable wherever you are.

Thank you for your inquiry. You would need to file for divorce here in Las Vegas. If you are entitled to alimony payments and are able to get a decree ordering such assistance your husband could not avoid payment only because you moved overseas.

However, if you ever wanted to modify your divorce decree you would need to do it in Las Vegas.
