Legal Question in Family Law in Nevada

I live in North Carolina and I'm looking to become a temporary guardian of my cousin who is 7 years old. The mother, who is my cousin, is willing to allow this custody and they live in Nevada. The father of the child, who does not live with them, lives in California and also agrees to the custody of the child. In what state should the legal guardianship papers be drawn and signed at?

In order to get a guardianship in Nevada, you must have a co-guardian who is a resident of the State of Nevada.

You didn't explain, but I assume that you want to bring the child to North Carolina. If you get a Nevada guardianship, the court will require you to apply for a North Carolina guardianship and will terminate the Nevada guardianship once you get the North Carolina one.

So...contact a lawyer in North Carolina to see what it takes to get a guardianship there.

I do not know North Carolina law.
