Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

collection agency harassment

I am called repeatedly by a collection agency regarding a debt collection for my step-son who no longer lives here. I have told them not to call, and filed a complaint with the FTC and the BBB of both N.H. and P.A. (the office is located in P.A.) The collection agency rep. has told me that he will call until the debt is resolved and that I have no right to tell him not to call. I am in the process of sending them a certified letter to cease communication. Is that all I can do? Thanks for any info.

Re: collection agency harassment

From your description the collection agency appears to breaking the law. Go see a lawyer because under certain circumstances if you win a lawsuit, the collection agency will have to pay damages and your attorney fees.
