Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Hampshire

Co-signed loan

I co-signed for a college loan for my daughter. She now refuses to pay the loan even through she is capable. This means I will be held responsible for the balance. What recourse do I have to recover? We are extranged, and have no contact with each other.

Other than some voluntary agreement your only option is to bring suit; if you prevail you get a judgment and then you must collect. You can possibly garnish wages, attach real or personal property and order it sold through the Sheriff; have the Court order a Periodic Payments hearing to determine how much she can pay you each month. The Court orders the hearing and if she does not show a bench warrant can be issues for her arrest,
