Legal Question in Family Law in New Hampshire

what to do about a continuance

My ex aparently filed for a continuance and didn't notify myself or the GAL. The Court has approved the Continuance because we didn't send in an answer to it. (that is because we weren't notified by him, he represents himself). Is there anything I can do or is it now a lost cause because it was granted?

Re: what to do about a continuance

I suggest you talk with the GAL. I expect the GAL will file an objection and ask for costs and sanctions for his failure to follow the rules of court. However, if his reason was truly valid and it causes no harm, then the court is likely to uphold the continuance. Given court schedules, I think it's going to be a logistical problem getting it back on the docket.
