Dad is suing me

Hello,

I am being sued by my father for money he lent me to do work on my primary residence. I just recived a Notice of Structuring Conference Letter. What is the best course of action I want to give my father back what he is owed but I cannot give him the lump sum...he wants to force me into selling my home...which I do not want to do...any advice??

One thing--don't ignore the lawsuit. You will not be forced to pay in a lump sum if you canot afford; you could make a written offer to pay the balance at so much per month. A judge is likely to agree if he determines you don't have enough to pay all at once without great hardship.
