joint legeal custody

my sister lost phsyical custody of her 15 year old because he wanted to live with his dad now she wants to go out of state for vacation she still has joint legal custody and wants to take her son she will have him for school vacation court orderd visit can she take him out of state without his fathers permissiom

An answer to your question will require a review of the Court Order. Often the issue of travel is detailed in that document. If not, then we'd have to perform an analysis of how any change in location would impact the existing order relating to how much time each parent spends with the boy. Often, the distance would inhibit contact by one parent. In that event, it is often best to get court permission before making any change in location to another state.

It would be a good idea to meet with an attorney who can fully review all of the details and documents.
