Will I need to be present at the mediation hearing if my spouse files for divorce?

Mediation is a process designed to give the parties a chance to develop their own solution to the divorce and to have greater control over the outcome. There are may types of mediation and many ways to approach getting a divorce. If the court orders the mediation you will need to be present. Howver, there's nothing that prevents you and your spouse from engaging in private mediation or other forms of settlement negotiations to avoid involving the court process.

Without knowing what issues each of you are trying to address, and what assets and libilities need to bee distributed it is difficult to be more detailed in response. You would likely benefit form meeting with an attorney to reveiw those detials to figure out what would be the best method to get your through the divorce process with the least amount of stress.
