Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in New Hampshire

Breaking a lease

Can I legally break an apartment lease, with 6 months left to go, if I've purchased a new home? The lease was for one year and started in October. The closing on the new home is slated for the end of March. Thank you for your time and assistance.

Re: Breaking a lease

Yes but you owe the balance of the lease. However, the landlord must make a good faith effort top release the apartment and if he does after a couple of months you only owe for those two months. In other words, he can't collect twice.
