Legal Question in Real Estate Law in New Hampshire

Landlord snow removal responsibilities

I am a Landlord in NH, I live in part of my Triplex. My tenants are angry because after a snow storm, the driveway is not plowed before they try to leave for work. They sometimes get stuck, have to shovel, and basically just have a hard time getting out. (I, on the other hand, have not had any problems getting out, or in.) They are threatening legal action because ''they don't shovel, they pay rent.'' However, snow removal was not noted in any part of the signed lease...and I do pay for a plow to come, but due to their customer base and schedules, they are not able to make it until the afternoon (or even evenings sometimes). Everyone deals with the snow in New England. What would they expect if I lived 3-5 hours away? MY QUESTIONS: Am I legally responsible for waking up an hour early to shovel the driveway (4am), even though it is not in the lease and I have hired a plow truck? Haven't I done my ''due diligence''? Do they have a leg to stand on in court? Thanks!

Re: Landlord snow removal responsibilities

This reply is off the cuff but I think you're on solid ground for the reasons you mention. If the tenant wanted an unusual service, such as snow removal before a cetain time of day, they should have had it in the lease. You shouldn't be afraid to call them on their threat of legal aaction.
