Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Hampshire

Transfer of parental rights

I am a single mother of a minor child. If something should happen to me, can I transfer my parental rights as her mother to another person or would all parental rights go directly to the biological father? There are no legal agreements between the father and myself concerning the child's custody, care or support.

Re: Transfer of parental rights

The biological father would have rights unless he has legally relinquished them; however, a will from you nominating a different guradian may carry weight depending upon how involved the father is and his ability to raise the child.
