Legal Question in Bankruptcy in New Jersey

Does one always lose one's home in bankruptcy?

Is it possible to keep one's house when unvolved in bankruptcy? If so,what are the particulars involved? Thank you in advance in answering my question.

Re: Does one always lose one's home in bankruptcy?

One may keep one's home despite being a debtor in a bankruptcy proceeding. The particulars depend on the circumstances of the case, including among other things the Chapter under which the bankruptcy is filed or pending (i.e., 7, 11 or 13), the amount of equity in the home, whether the mortgages on the home are current or can be brought current.
