Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Conned into a business deal...

I've put in about $25,000+ at this

point and have not seen a dime. It

turns out this person has collection

offices looking for them and possibly

wiring money out.

My issue is, I obviously want my

money back but don't know how to

proceed. I cannot afford a lawyer and

know this person is still running the

business.

My proof are documents of loans, CC

statements, and even a self-written

document that this person has

signed of all money due.

Where can I go from here?

Re: Conned into a business deal...

You can file your own lawsuit in the SUPERIOR COURT, Law Division. Go online to www.nj.gov and follow the links to the judiciary and then to "representing yourself in court" At least then you will see what you may have to do before deciding you'll need to spend money on an attorney. Good luck.

You really should have an attorney. How do you know you can't afford one? I don't see how you can put in $25,000+ and then have nothing at all left over, even with credit cards, to pay anything to an attorney. I suggest you call some and find out all of your options before you decide that you have no money for an attorney.

Re: Conned into a business deal...

If you have no money then you are left with three options.

1. File a pro se claim in supreme court (meaning you'd do all the work yourself)

2. Hire a lawyer willing to do it on contingency ( meaning for 30 -40% of the winnings)

3. Or just letting it go

You really need an attorney to sue him and his business.

I have been doing this kind of work for 25 years.

You want to go after him hard and fast.

Call me. I can help you.
