Legal Question in Business Law in New Jersey

Are there any laws in New Jersey that protect a straight partnership as a civil union? I have been with my partner for for 8 years. We started living together 3months into our relationshio and share all the responsibilities as a married couple. I am currently being refused to add my hubby on my medical insurance from my comany (small business) because we are not married and they claim laws only protect gay couples. Wouldn't that be discrimination?

are you and your partner joined in a civil union? that is the important question.

laws do not protect only gay couples. laws (the laws you are talking about) protect people in marriages and in civil unions.

Yeah, NJ is crazy and I don't see how that is legal, but thats just me. You can get a civil union if you are elderly or gay, but if you are neither, you are SOL until someone brings this before a court and wins.
