Can someone legally hack into your personal e-mail site and read and distribute your private conversations?

No that would be a trespass of sorts and is a prosecutable crime. In fact it is being played out right now in a case in Philadelphia were a broadcaster looked into the e-mail of a fellow anchor-woman and distributed her e-mail. You may also have a suit for violations of your right to privacy.
