Legal Question in Consumer Law in New Jersey

Car Struck By Lightning

My Car was struck by lightning 8 weeks ago, It still cannot be fixed yet. At what point do I have a legal right to get the car totaled and get out of my lease. The car will not start and they have been given mulitple parts. I am paying out of pocket for everything and my leasing company will not do anything for me. I feel there is something that can be done legally.

Re: Car Struck By Lightning

All cars with a loan or leased cars REQUIRE that you carry insurance. Insurance pays for things like lightning strikes, NOT the lease company - so what do you expect from the leasing company? If your insurance company is not taking care of the damaged car, THEN perhaps you need to take legal action.

Re: Car Struck By Lightning

Your insurance company provides insurance against damage like lightning. This is subject to whatever terms are in the insurance policy, and may have a deductible.

Notify them, and the insurance company should respond. If they have failed to respond, call me or another attorney and take some action. You can then decide how you would like to proceed.
