Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New Jersey

In 1988 I was divorced in NJ. As part of the settlement, I signed the marital home over to my ex-spouse in return for a mortgage in amount of my share of home's value. After making 2 payments, she defaulted on mortgage and has not made payments in past 21 years. She still lives in and owns the home with substantial equity. Can I still sue for foreclosure on the home in hopes of collecting the mortgage with interest?

Try a foreclosure with a forced sale.

The lengthy time to begin foreclosure proceedings is probably not a bar to the foreclosure although it may be a bar to collecting some of the charges that would otherwise be due. You won't know until you try.
