userous fees

i have been contacted by a credit card collection agency. my debt is approx $350 but they insist that i owe over $1000 and refuse to produce a bill of peticulars. they continu to call twice a day.i would like to settle for the $350 that i owe. what are my rights and recorse.they have put this outrageous debt on my credit.

they are required to send you documentation if you request same on the debt. Did they send you anything in writing yet? or just calls
