Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

I was charged with shoplifting under $200 and conspiracy to commit shoplifting in september. The case got dismissed but I am worried that it is still on my record. Do I have to say "Yes" on job applications for any criminal questions? If i need to get it expunged, how much does that cost and how long does it take?

It takes about four months to expunge a criminal record. The hearing is usually scheduled with six to eight weeks, but it takes another two months to receive the expungement order and for

the various law enforcement agencies to comply with the order. My fee is $1,130. which includes a $52.50 filing fee and another $80.00 expense related to sending certified mail to the various law enforcement agencies, twice.

You can answer NO to any questions about criminal convictions, but must answer YES if you are asked if you have ever been arrested. However, since the charge was dismissed, you can apply for an expungement of your arrest record at this time. Please contact me to discuss my doing an expungement for you in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
