Federal - Restitution - Will I have to pay?

If I marry my fiance, who owes a bunch of money in restitution for a federal case, will I then become liable for any of it?

No. Restitution is part of a criminal sentence. Only the convicted person is ever responsible for the consequences of his sentence. Your question is concerning marital debt. This would not normally fall under that category, just like his DMV surcharges, for example, won't be your responsibility. However, credit card debt, etc., will become marital debt. Hope he wins the lottery, then the same rule will apply but positively.
