Legal Question in Criminal Law in New Jersey

When a person is convicted for shoplifting 34 years ago(sentence was 11months in another state from where they live) and wants the record expunged how does one go about it. We contacted a lawyer in the state they live in and was told to contact a lawyer where the offense occurred. When calling the lawyer in the convicted state, we where told to contact a lawyer in the state where we live.

The expungement must be filed in the state where the offense occurred. Anyone who tells you otherwise does not know what they're talking about.

For more information concerning expungements, you may want to visit http://www.njexpungements.com/faq.php. That is my site. You can e-mail or call me if you have more questions. My contact information is on the listed site.

Good luck.
