If you don't want to plea, your only two options are to defend yourself or get an attorney to defend you. I think anyone would tell you that you should get an attorney. I suggest you do this sooner rather than later as the Judge will want to start the trial at the next court date and there is a lot to do between now and then.

My initial consultations are always free, so call me at 732/247/3340 to discuss your case.

Re: Puublic Intoxication summons

If you are going to represent yourself, start by getting a copy of the court rules and becoming thoroughly familiar with them. Next, get copies of the statues that you are charged with violating, research the elements of each offense, research the evidence that the State will have to produce in order to prove each element, prepare cross ecxaminiation and timely objections to evidence in accordance with the Rules of Evidence, and read the cases asociated with your alleged offense to detemine whether any precedent has been set. Also, determine what evidence you will offer and how you will get it properly admitted, and substantiated at trial.

Otherwise, find someone to represent you. There is a reason that people see docttors when they are sick and get their plumbing done by trained professionals... you may need some expertise if you do not have the time to train yourself.

Never go to court on any type of criminal charge, which your charge is, without first consulting with a lawyer. I would like to see exactly what statute you were charged under and what the plea offer was before I can give you a definite answer about how to proceed. Please contact me at your convenience. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.

Sincerely yours, -Ronald Aronds, Esq.-
