Being untruthful to a police officer
Is it possible to be charged with a crime if I knowingly lie about a personal matter to an on duty police officer? Because the mentioned officer is an acquaitance, and the matter concerns relations with his spouse, by denying said relations, can I be placed under arrest for any reason if the officer remains skeptical? Or would this constitute a gross abuse of authority by the officer because adultery is not a crime?

I just can't see anyone charging you with this. Just because he is a cop does not mean that everyone that lies to him can be charged with a crime. That would just be silly.

When you are fooling around with the wife of someone who carries a gun as part of his work being arrested for lying to him should be the least of your concerns. You have not committed a crime but you are dealing with someone who has the resources to observe you.
