Legal Question in DUI Law in New Jersey

Dwi

I was charged $10,000 for a 3rd dwi and $6,800 for an appeal. This attorney told me on the steps of the municipal court that you never win in municipal court, your best bet is an appeal. He did not represent me to the best of his ability. This has a mandatory sentence why should I have paid $16,800 for this? Is this ethical for an attorney to do? I was told I should get another attorney, but you can see I have no money. Is there anything I can do? I feel I was taken advantage of because of the very vulnerable state of mind I was in and he saw this and used it against me.

Re: Dwi

Not to defend this attorney since I don't know what happened, but this is what happens. Did you file another appeal? I suppose you didn't. I know some great DWI attorneys but they lose many cases too. DWI can be very tough. As long as he did the work, you can't blame him for the result.

Now you said he didn't do his best but you offer no specifics about what he did wrong or what he didn't do.
