Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

An Aunt's legal rights

My brother and his girlfriend both suffer from alcoholism and as a result the household environment is at times volitile. They recently had a baby girl who is a month old, and I am concerned for her welfare, but what can I do? I am willing to provide care for this child, but is this possible?

Re: An Aunt's legal rights

You may petition the court for custody but may have difficulties since the child is young. On the other hand if there are real concerns, you can contact the DYFS.
