Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

Can I be expected to pay alimony?

We were married for 12 years and have similar salaries (I make around $7000 more). At the ESP she demanded permanent alimony and the panel seemed to agree with her. How can that be? She has a job and has bought a condo since our separation. There are not any big differnces in our lifestyles so why would anyone thinks he is entitled to alimony?

Re: Can I be expected to pay alimony?

Hard to say. Alimony is based on many factors. If the ESP Panel believed he was entitled to alimony, they're seeing something that you (or your attorney) is not. If you have any doubts, you may want to pay for a consultation with another attorney to be sure that the advice you are getting from your current attorney is sound. Good luck! Rob Gleaner
