Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey

My father left a home in his and my mother's name due to my mother's psychotic behavior yesterday. He intends on going there tomorrow with a police officer to have her removed from the residence. She called him and informed him that she is currently taking his belongings and "throwing them outside". Is she liable if something happens to his items?
