Legal Question in Family Law in New Jersey
My husband has two children with a woman HE NEVER MARRIED. She lives in New Jersy and we live in New York. My husband and this woman never went to court. My husband is now married to me and we have one child. This woman is extremely controlling and wont let my husband take his kids to our home. She allows him to see his children on her terms only. He could see them whenever he wants at her mother's house in New York. She occasionally lets him take his oldest son to our home once in a blue moon. We need advice. My husband currently pays her 3,000 a month, gave her the house that they bought together, pays life ins and college fund monthly and gives any other necessites to her if needed. My husband is a doctor. Is the courts going to take advantage of us. WIll the courts take into consideration that my husband is married to me and we have a child together. He supports us. What is the New Jersy child support percentage for someone that makes more than an average salary. Since the kids live in New Jersey, is that the law that we must go by. We need to be adivced before going to court.

What you are describing is horrible, and unfortunately fairly common. She has no right to do this, and you should consider getting a court order to force her to stop this nonsense. The kids need to be able to see their father without her interference.
Child support in New York is calculated simply, I believe, as a percentage of gross income.
Child support in New Jersey is a lot more complex, but usually more fair. I can assist you with this.
Child custody and visitation procedure in New York is horrible for the father, and takes a great deal of court hearings to force the mother to let him see his kids.
The Courts in New Jersey are a LOT better for men trying to see their children.
I have been doing this for 26 years. I would be happy to meet with you and give you some assistance. I see from your zip code that you are not too far out, by Glen Cove. I am just across the GW Bridge.
