Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

My ex boyfriend is currently in prison, prior to him going to jail i lived with him. Two months after his incarrceration i moved out and wasnt able to bring all of my belongings due to my situation. I was assured in writing my things were ok and I could get them when I was able. It's been about 6months and for the last 2 I've tried to contact his mother as well as him to allow me to get into the house to collect my things. I've written via facebook, email, and letter, called both cell and house phones as well as texted. I just found out his brother and my cousin are living in the house so i called my cousins work he informed me my exes mother had put my things in a storage shed. That day i stopped by the house and left a note to please call, later that night the my exes brother called me screaming and verbally abusing me claiming that ghe lives therenow and his parents had gotten rid of my thins. My question is should I sue and how Fw: Interview follow-up do I come up with an amount? Everything that meant anything to me was there things that I can't price like a handmade quilt my great gran made my grandfather both deceased, me and ny daughters birth cert. As well as clothes, jewelry, and electronics ect.

The law provides relief for you. You can sue for return of your property or, if the property has been damaged or lost, for the cost of replacement. You can also recover the cost of suit.
