Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New Jersey

Subpoena

I live in New Jersey and was issue by mail a subpoena to appear in New York. Are there any New Jersey regulations that must be followed in order to make this subpoena valid or am I obligated to go? I read that some states have rules pertaining to out of state subpoenas.

Thanks

Assuming that you have given all of the needed information (and no insult, I assure you, it is almost impossible for a person to give ALL of the critical information in a posting like this), then you may want to consider the following ideas.

You have given very little information, and I can not answer your question. This seems to be part of a bigger problem, and I think you should speak to a lawyer before you decide to simply ignore a subpoena.

If you would like, give me a call to set up an appointment; I am in northern New Jersey. I will do what I can to help you out.

You should do something about the subpoena. Don't simply ignore it unless you never plan go to into New York again.

There are different reasons for issuing a subpoena. The purpose of the subpoena will have a lot to do with how to respond.

Mr. Davies is closer to you than I. Give him a call and get his advise.
