Legal Question in Insurance Law in New Jersey

Car Accident insurance

I had a car accident. my girlfriend was driving and i was a passenger. the car is insured under my father and i never use it so i am not insured neither is my girlfriend. We got into the accident and suffered some injuries that i am going to the doctor for now. we filed a police reportand in which the other driver states that it was his fault. I will be seeing a lawyer about this but my question is about my fathers insurance company. He filed a claim with them but people are telling him that he should not talk to the adjuster until we see a lawyer who would talk with the insurance company because they make you sign a waver of your rights to seek damages from the other drivers insurance. is this true? p.s My father has full comprehensive coverage on the vehicle as well and both me and my girlfriend are have drivers liscences as well.

Re: Car Accident insurance

In New Jersey, the rules are different for both you and your girlfriend but you both can recover for your accident. The most important thing for you to do is to (1) treat with your doctor for every possible indication of pain; and (2) talk to an attorney. You can feel free to call our offices any time. My direct line is 267.639.3105. As a general rule, you should hold off on talking to your insurance company about the facts and details of the accident until you have spoken to an attorney.
