Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

employer refused to let me take a new job

I was offered a position with a new company, when they called my current employer they refused to let me go. Telling the NEW company that they would pull their business and the loss of my services would cripple their business. I lost about 20,000 per year. My current employer has offered no compesation.
