Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

I live in New Jersey and work for a workers' compensation law firm as a legal secretary and have done so for 25 years. We recently had a new business manager start working at our office who also happens to be the wife of the senior partner and there have been many changes that have occurred since she started working there. One of those changes is a change in the vacation policy. Previously on January 1st your vacation was renewed and available to be taken at any time. Now the vacation time must be earned. For example I get 4 weeks vacation and in order for me to earn a week I have to work 1/4 of the year. I suffer from carpal tunnel syndrome from the many years of repetitive use of my hands and recently had surgery and am out on workers' compensation temporary disability. I was told that because I will not be working a full year I will lose some of my vacation time. Since I am out of work on disability due to injuries sustained at work can they take my vacation time away?
