Legal Question in Employment Law in New Jersey

Wages asked to be given back

The institution I work part-time in the summer for (a private Catholic school) asked me to work on a website for them. After performing these services I submitted a bill to them which they felt was an excessive amount of hours. However, the paid the amount in full to me. After a week or two, I was told by my boss that they wanted me to work back 25 hours for the money they paid me for website work. He forced me to sign a paper saying that I had received an advance of money and that I would work the 25 on time cards, but for free. Is this legal for them to do?
