Legal Question in Personal Injury in New Jersey

I have been in an abusive, both phisical and emotional, relationship for 20 years. We have 3 children, not married. I never went to er but have neck, hip pain, headaches, anxiety and depression due to all the times being slammed to the ground, floor, choked, etc. and the stress has sucked the life from me- i feel i have nothing left and he has ruined me physically, emotionally, and financially. I have always dropped assult charges, restraining orders due to fear and threats.

My question is- now ready to leave, am i able to sue for physical and emotional damages?

Yes you can file for divorce and also for pain and suffering. There will have to be proof of injuries in order to collect on that part of the claim. There also has to be assets in order to collect anything.
