Until you are advised by the mortgage company or someone else to the contrary, you should continue to pay rent to the landlord. This may become important some where down the line if the landlord loses the property and you want to stay on as a tenant and they look at yoiur rent history. This reply is limited to the small amount of facts presented and could be different if additional facts were preswented.
