Legal Question in Social Security Law in New Jersey

I have a parent who died when i was 12yrs old i was adopted at the age of 9yrs old and the state of nj changed my name how can i get my fathers social security benefits if i dont have a birth certificate with the name i was born with before my name was changed.i am his only child and nobody has claimed his benefits all these years i am know 34yrs old.

Nobody has claimed his benefit because, if he is deceased, there are no benefits! All that FICA or Social Security that he paid in stays in the trust fund.

The only other claims, based on his earnings record, are for persons who can claim surivors' benefits - spouse and minor children and perhaps persons who were disabled before age 22.

But if he lost his parental rights, the children's survivors' benefits were lost too.
