Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Car Inspection

Car was bought in PA, had PA inspection, registered in NJ. Received a ''Failed to Inspect'' ticket in Haddonfield. Is it worth fighting it?

Re: Car Inspection

If you have the car inspected in New Jersey before the court date and bring to court proof of the Pennsylvania inspection, the prosecutor might agree to dismiss the charge. If you have only this one charge it is not worth hiring an attorney. If you have other charges you should give me a call.

Call me if you like.

Re: Car Inspection

New cars do not require inspection for a few years, but otherwise, any car registered in NJ must be inspected in NJ. As Mr. Moore suggested, get it inspected, go to the prosecutor (it is a 0 point ticket that will cost you about $200 on avg.), to see if he'll give you a better deal or drop it, but unless its a new car, it sounds like you have no defense.

Re: Car Inspection

I agree with Mr. Moore. Fix the problem before court and I doubt you will need an attorney. Just be nice to the prosecutor and don't try to "fight" him right off the bat and he or she will work with you.

Good luck!
