Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Leaving the scene and careless driving

Need your help for the following case of worst of bad luck - while taking a left turn on my regular way to office, my car hit an officers car side-to-side and broke his side rear view mirror - no damange to my car though. I completed the turn and then parked on the empty lot on right hand side - about 40 feet from the turn. However the officer gave me a leaving the scene ticket along with careless driving.

Is moving to safe-parking zone and stopping a mistake?

He was parked in a no-parking zone, but there were several cars parked behind him, and my car did not hit him - is this a worthy defence.

He shouted at me to get my attention, while I was taking turn. Is this a defense point.

He said - ''you will be very late today''. Can it be said a irresponsible statement.

what other points could I highlight in support.

Please guide me through this.

Re: Leaving the scene and careless driving

These are serious tickets, and you are facing mandatory license suspension if you are found guilty. I would not try to go alone to court on this case if I were you since the officer may not be willing to agree to any plea bargain. In that case you will need to take the case to trial. I am an attorney who has handled very many cases similar to yours in various courts throughout New Jersey in the past. Please contact me to discuss your case in more detail. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
