Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Outstanding Tickets

I current have several outstanding tickets for driving while suspended, and no insurance which span more than 16 years. I 'm living out of state and being transfed back to NJ. I want to know how I can get these cleared up, and get my licence restored. Also what penilties I might face. They occured 1990 in Scotch Plns, 1995 in Mountain Side, and 1996 Woodbridge.. Please advise.

Re: Outstanding Tickets

I agree with Mr. Moore, you really should get an attorney to help you with all of this. I've had clients in your exact situation and it is never gun to go through all of that because you have to do them one by one.

Those towns are near my office so if you'd like to discuss your case, you can call me at 732/247/3340. My initial consultations are always free.

I suggest you get this done ASAP so at least some are done before you even get back to NJ.

Re: Outstanding Tickets

You might be able to have most of these charges dismissed because the police officer is unable to identify you as the person he or she issued the traffic summons to. The penalty for driving without insurance is a one year suspension the first time and a two year driving suspension the second and subsequent times. Strange as it may seem having the matters dismissed may require the payment of a fine for contempt of court for failure to appear in court when you matter was scheduled.

You need an attorney to handle these matters. There is no way you can personally approach a police officer and ask "Remember me." Also you might make some statement which might be used to prove that you are the person to whom the tickets were issued.

If all goes well you might have to pay about $1,000.00 totally in the various courts for contempt of court.

Call me if you like.
