Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

After purchasing my Car, I found problem that it was tremendously jerking suddenly while driving. I went to mechanics and they told Brake Problem and replaced the brake. The next day I was driving and the car suddenly started jerking violently again. I was at 25 Miles speed zone, and within a 100 Ft. a narrow bridge. I scared, immediately stopped the car and pumping the Brake fearing of accident due to brake failure. The road was narrow, so, I tried to come out of the Road by making a K turn. Suddenly one Cops van came behind and my car collide the Cops car just by a gentle touch. Immediately I stopped my car, but Police given me the ticket & Summons for Careless Driving. I told the problem and they told me to I can plead for not guilty. The next day I went to mechanics and they told some other problem and rectified. Still my car is shaking sometime but not furiously. Please let me know what can be done.

Careless Driving is a 2 point ticket, but obviously having an accident may somewhat complicate the situation (especially with a police vehicle). You can probably plead it down to a no point violation. The key is to see if you can work the case out with the prosecutor. If you cannot, then you would need to have a trial and tell your story to the Judge and it would be up to the Judge to decide if you are guilty. You may want to consider getting a lawyer, please call me and I would be happy to discuss it with you and answer any questions you may have. I never charge a fee to speak with someone about their situation. (201)-894-9498

Suggest you get receipts and documentation of your attempts to repair the car and also maybe have the mechanic testify for you. A lawyer would be a good move.
