Legal Question in Traffic Law in New Jersey

Reckless driving and speeding

I was radared going 78 in a 45, and I crossed over the double yellow, so I got a speeding ticket and a reckless driving, and a GDL, but I was speeding and over the yellow because someone was chasing me and I was frightened and did not know what to do so I drove as fast I could and was trying to evade him by going around people. Is there any way of reducing these charges and what are the odds that my license gets suspended, and what am I looking at. This was in Rockleigh, NJ on Paris Ave. Thanks

Re: Reckless driving and speeding

You have some very very serious traffic charges. You put yourself and other people in real danger.

You might even get prison time for this. Possibly.

You have a wild story as to why you did all this.

Please hire a very experienced attorney who appears often in the Municipal Court where these charges were filed.

I would need a lot more information. Did you tell the cops this? How many points do you have on your DL?

Re: Reckless driving and speeding

Your explanation for your driving the way you were will be completely ignored by the judge. You are currently looking at 10 points for these two tickets. If you hire a lawyer there is a good chance of getting the points reduced by their negotiating with the prosecutor on your case. I am an attorney who has handled very many cases similar to yours in various municipal courts throughout New Jersey in the past. I would like to discuss your case with you in more detail. Please contact me to discuss this. I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
