Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in New Jersey
I would like to change the executor of my will and would like to know what legal procedure is involved to be sure it's correct. If it is possible just to write in the change without any further legal involvement please let me know what that entails - notarized? thanks

To change executors, you must revise your will by signing a new will or signing a codicil to your current will [you can't just cross out the name and write in another on the original will...doing that can actually invalidate your current will or at a minimum require a court proceeding in order to probate the will].

I agree with Jon that either a Codicil or a new Will is required. DO NOT just cross out the old E$xecutor's name and write in a new name.
