fathers will
if my father left something to me in his will, does the lawyer have to legally notify me and are wills public record?

You are entitled to be given Notice of Probate and a copy of the Will (a) because you are named in the Will and also (b) because you are a child of the deceaced.

Yes, you are entitled to a copy of the Will, and Wills WHEN PROBATED are public record. If the lawyer is the lawyer for the Executor of the Estate, then yes that lawyer should make sure you get a copy of the Will.

Wills are public records. After death, they must be filed in the court house records. Yes, if you are a beneficiary, you should be notified.
