Inheriting While Incarcerated

My fiance is incarcerated for 15 months and is about to inherit part of his mother's estate, specifically, the house, and he would like to know how to take possesion of the house while still in jail and anything else he may need to know or do pertaining to the inheritance.

Re: Inheriting While Incarcerated

The executor of the estate needs to merely prepare and record a Deed into your fiance's name to make him the owner. The more critical problem is how he manages it from jail. He could give you a Power of Attorney to handle the affairs involving the house (management, paying bills, renting it if he desires or allowing you to live there, maintenance and repairs, etc.). How will he be able to pay the bills (inusrance, taxes, utilities)? I can assist you in preparing any necessary documents you might need.
