Legal Question in Workers Comp in New Jersey

Asbestos claim

In 1990 a regisitered claim suing the manufactures and suppliers of asbestos was submitted to American Lawyers from my solicitors in England for my Step father who died of Mesothelioma in that same year.

Our solicitor who has been in contact with the American lawyers, whom have now split up, both lawyers are now claiming to have no record of my stepfathers claim, and my solicitor is stating that their involvement was over once they had registered the claim.

My question is do I have a case against the American lawyers, and if so where do I go from here.

thank you for you time on this matter
