Legal Question in Workers Comp in New Jersey
Previous injury/new employer
This question is for my brother in NJ. I am an attny in IA, but this is not my area of law (I do juvenile work), and I want to set him up w/ someone in NJ to discuss his complaint. He has an ongoing back problem (discs). This isn't a traumatic injury, so it's hard to pinpoint when it happened. He's been doing manual labor for over 15 years under 4 different employers, so it could've been anyone. His doctor no sees how problematic his back pain is (every two months or so he needs to take about a week off, unpaid, and stay bed-ridden). But his current employer won't sign the work comp. paperwork. He's on the verge of quitting that job, but I told him to hand in there until he talks to an attny about any potential claim. Any thoughts? (I wish I took work comp. in law school!)

what town does he live in? if in northern NJ, i can hook him up with a couple of full time worker's comp attorneys.

Please have your brother contact me. I am an attorney who primarily does NJ workers compensation law, and I would be very happy to speak with him about his case. Just because his current employer is not willing to submit this claim to his workers compensation insurer does not nesceesarily mean your brother is unable to file a claim with the state. Before I can go into any more details about this though, I would need to speak with your brother. Please note that I never charge for simply talking to a person about their case. Thank you.
