Legal Question in Family Law in New York

I have a couple of questions. My boyfriends wife has supposedly filed for divorce, which was about a year ago now. But he hasn't been served any papers or petition to answer to or anything - just been taken to court for child support, is that possible? Does that mean she hasn't filed if he hasn't received any documentation? Is there any way I can find out if she has filed?

You cannot check but he can. He can go to the clerk of the court and give his name and see if there are any actions pending against him.
