Legal Question in Family Law in New York

If a man has knowledge of his illegitimate child, but does not want him and the mother does not ask for support, can he later change his mind claim him in the future? For example, a man believes his girlfriend cheated on him and the child is not his, even though the mother tells him the child is his. The mother decides not to ask for support because she can support herself. Can the man years later, claim the child is his after he either see's a resemblance in the child or learns she never cheated. Is there a time limit?

There is no time limit. However, there may be potential issues regarding equitable estoppel. You should consult with an attorney on that issue.
