Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Debt Collector

Recieved a summons from lawyers of a debt collector. Debt is not mine the SS # do not match; What are my opions in resolving this situation? Do I need a lawyer?

If you received a summons you must either retain a lawyer or file and serve an answer pursuant to the directions set forth on the summons.

Many times the court clerk will provide a form and help you prepare and serve a proper answer.
